STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — This holiday season, the New York City & Vicinity District Council of Carpenters and the Carpenter Contractor Alliance of Metropolitan New York delivered more than 75 toys to kids on Staten Island.
Partnering with local elected officials and community organizations, the union carpenters and contractors participated in a toy drive on Staten Island, in addition to 15 events throughout the city. After a difficult year for so many in New York City, union carpenters and contractors say they are doing their part to rebuild our city and give back to those in need.
The Staten Island holiday toy drive was done in partnership with Assemblyman Charles Fall. The toy drive was an effort to alleviate stress on families, spread kindness, and foster holiday cheer.
“This year in particular, it was important to our members to give back to the communities in which we live in and work,” stated Executive Secretary-Treasurer Joseph Geiger. “After a difficult year for so many New Yorkers, we hope that these toy drives brought extra hope and joy to families throughout Staten Island. These events are successful because union carpenters and contractors truly care for their communities. We’re proud to do our part to help ensure that every family in Staten Island has toys for their children this holiday season.”
“I would like to thank the NYC District Council of Carpenters and CCA Metro for leading such an impressive toy drive in our community. The event truly lifted the spirits of countless Staten Islanders. It’s efforts like these that keep New York strong. I’m wishing everyone happy holidays and new year,” Fall said.
The annual toy drives are part of New York City & Vicinity District Council of Carpenters and the Carpenter Contractor Alliance of Metropolitan New York’s larger effort to give back to the communities that have been impacted by the pandemic. In November, union carpenters and contractors teamed up to deliver turkeys and warm meals to families in need for Thanksgiving.
